The wellbeing of our visitors, associates and staff are of the upmost importance to us here at Eden Camp.
20.03.2020 Update – Eden Camp Closed
In light of tonight’s government announcement, we have had to make the difficult decision to close the museum from tonight until further notice.
This announcement comes with heavy hearts, but the well-being of our staff, volunteers and members of the public have to come first.
We will be present online and on social media with news, updates, and wonderful stories from our archive to keep you all entertained through this hard time. Our heritage is important and we promise to continue our hard work to preserve the history and memories we have collected over the years!
We can’t thank you all enough for your ongoing support and can’t get wait to welcome you with open arms when we can open our gates again!
As ever, the most important thing for Eden Camp is the safety of our staff, volunteers and the public.
Following the government’s guidance on social distancing and social isolation, our museum remain open for people to visit.
Our spacious and open-air site remains open for people to visit and have the wellbeing benefits of fresh air and time outdoors. We will keep monitoring the situation closely and follow the latest advice from WHO and our government. We understand that you may have questions around COVID-19, or coronavirus.
Here is information about our response that may help you plan your visit.
As this situation changes, we will update our website and social media accordingly so check back regularly.
Hygiene facilities on site
We take our hygiene extremely seriously and closely monitor our facilities regularly. We have toilets and hand washing facilities available in our café and in Hut 14 in the centre of our attraction.
Our toilet facilities, including accessible ones, are clearly signposted and well stocked with toilet roll and hand soap. We also have provided hand sanitiser is key areas around the site including the café, main reception and the gift shop.
Our visitor facilities undergo a cleaning protocol several times each day. To protect yourself and others:
• Regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. You should do this throughout the day, including when you get home and especially before eating.
• Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are unavailable.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve when you cough or sneeze.
• Put those tissues straight in the bin and wash your hands afterwards.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
Please follow the latest guidance on social distancing measures which are steps you can take to reduce the social interaction between people. This will help reduce the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).
We have spaced out our café tables to ensure you are a safe distance from other visitors whilst enjoying our delicious food. We are also monitoring numbers of people on site and in individual buildings to ensure no space is at risk of crowding.
The latest government guidance on social distancing is here.
Food and drink
Our onsite Café employs rigorous food hygiene and cleaning standards.
You’re also very welcome to bring in your own picnic and blanket or enjoy one of the many picnic tables in the fresh air.
All school visits have been postponed until further notice.
We always put the safety of our visitors first.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will adapt our plans and programmes if Public Health England’s advice changes.
We ask for your help by following the Public Health England’s and NHS recommendations. And if you are sick, postpone your visit until you are well.

It is with regret that we are cancelling this weekend’s upcoming events with immediate effect: 1940s Living History Day: NWW2A, and Ladies’ Day – Women At War.
Whilst we are continuing to operate and remain open, we have made the decision to stop hosting events in line with social distancing guidelines.
The welfare of our staff, volunteers and visitors is of the upmost importance; please be assured we remain responsible with our operations; and are assessing our situation on a daily basis.
With it still being Mother’s Day, we are still offering FREE ADMISSION to all ladies who wish to visit on Sunday 22nd March as a gesture of good will in these uncertain circumstances.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused, however under the current circumstances, the health and safety of all concerned is our priority.
The Eden Camp team would like to thank you for your continued support, and we will keep you up to date with any further developments here and across our social media.
Following the government’s advice yesterday regarding the Covid-19 virus, we are taking every measure to ensure our site is clean and safe.
We are remaining open with our events going ahead as planned, but our management team are reviewing our situation on a daily basis, whilst adhering to the WHO hygiene advice.
With the advice on social distancing, we have made steps to accommodate this by opening our second café room and distancing tables to avoid close proximity. We are also asking visitors to wash their hands before dining as a precaution.
The government advice as it stands is to avoid close proximity in small areas such a cinemas, clubs and pubs. With the nature of our business, we have assessed the risk and will continue to operate. We have an open-air site and will be monitoring numbers of visitors to ensure we are maintaining a suitable and responsible capacity across our site.
Every measure is being made to ensure we can operate in the best way possible during these trying times. All of our employees are fully aware of the current requirements and are undertaking extreme levels of health and safety procedure to ensure that the highest possible hygiene standards are maintained, throughout every aspect of our facility.
As we continue to review our situation, we will make sure any changes are updated on our website and across our social media platforms, but for now, it is business as usual.
If you have any questions regarding our health and safety, please email email@example.com or call 01653 697777 for more information.
We would like to thank you for your continued support and look forward to your visit very soon.
The Eden Camp team.
