Following our closure last winter for necessary construction works, the museum’s Directors have made the decision to make the winter closure period a permanent change to our opening times.
From 31st October 2022, Eden Camp Modern History Museum will become a seasonal attraction, jam-packing all the fun of the 40s into 7 months for our visitors to enjoy.
Our new opening times will be April to October inclusive*, 10am until 5pm 7 days a week.
The Winter period is notoriously quiet for tourist attractions and knowing that we can take advantage of those months to conduct essential maintenance and refurbishments across site means we can ensure the museum will last another 80 years for everyone to enjoy.
Over the past two years or so, we have had a very difficult time as a family business making sure we can open to the same standards as normal, albeit restrictions and staff shortages at certain times. Our directors, Howard Johnson and Paula Peace have dedicated time, energy and large investments into the museum and the site in general. Such examples can be seen through the new toilet facilities, roof refurbishments, the Blitz Experience and essential maintenance to our 80-year-old original POW buildings. To maintain such important heritage and history, we have seen it appropriate to close over what is typically a quieter time for the museum to make even more fantastic improvements to the site you know and love.

Our staff and volunteers have been and continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our museum going, and we are ever grateful for their commitment and efforts every day.
The museum will continue to fight for the future viability, the ongoing development of the business and its staff, and this is the reason we have chosen to close annually over this period.
We appreciate this may come as a disappointment to some however all our main events including our Living History Weekends and our All Services Parade will continue to be a fantastic day out for the family!
Please note: if you have an existing season pass, the expiry date for these will be extended for the same period we have been closed (5 months) to ensure the 12 months advertised on those passes is provided.
Season passes purchased after 31st July will be valid for a 12-month period from purchase.
