The perfect socially-distanced coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support will take place this month at Eden Camp in a working tank.

The modern history museum in Malton has pledged its support for Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting a coffee morning from the safety of a working Scorpion tank, which is equipped with its own water boiler.

This September is Macmillan Coffee Morning’s 30th annual coffee morning, which is the most important event to date.

Francine Tyler, Area Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said, “This year’s coffee morning registrations are at a 68% low across the board, so we are thrilled Eden Camp are hosting a really unique coffee morning for us. Cancer hasn’t gone away during this pandemic, and we are expecting a tsunami of demand coming towards us this autumn, as the cancer system gets moving again and the backlog of delayed diagnoses begins to be dealt with.

“The safety of our supporters is our number one priority. We are also providing information and advice to everyone who signs up to ensure they can hold or attend an event in a safe way that adheres to Government guidelines, including good sanitation practices, controlled guest numbers and social distancing.”

This year’s coffee morning is to be held on Friday 25th September 2020, where visitors can enjoy a cake and a brew whilst donating to Macmillan, but people can host one whenever or wherever they want.

Eden Camp’s Museum Manager, Nick Hill, added: “We are delighted to host a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The Scorpion Tank is one of several of our museum’s impressive working vehicles, with the Scorpion boasting its very own water boiler, which enables the crew to brew up much-needed teas and coffees. We are very excited to host a coffee morning to raise much-needed funds for Macmillan.”

Eden Camp is also offering a virtual cup of tea for those who can’t join in the fun in person! You can purchase your cuppa here – all virtual purchases will be donated to MacMillan.
