Eden Camp lands sponsorship with new football team inspiring the youth of North Yorkshire to take up the sport of football!

MALTON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – 10th August 2022 – Eden Camp Modern History Museum today announced it has been sponsored the brand new Old Malton St Mary’s Ladies’ Football Club to boost and support the profile of ladies’ football in and around the Malton area. The team became official last week as England’s Ladies’ football team won the Euros, bringing football home at the first final at Wembley stadium for 55 years.

“We’re thrilled to have Eden Camp Modern History Museum proudly sponsoring the team. It has been a long time in the making but with the enthusiasm we’ve seen with sign-ups, we can’t wait to get started!” Leila Daffern, Team Manager and Captain, says “We aim to provide an outlet for women in the area to get fit, have fun, socialize, and most importantly express their love for the game, regardless of ability. Our sign-ups are currently aged from 17 years old, so we know we are already inspiring the younger generation to get involved.”

The team have already started training each week, but anyone is welcome to join them from age 16 plus. Training sessions are every Thursday evening from 6.30pm at the Gannock, Malton, with matches on Sundays. With twelve other teams in the North Riding Women’s Premier League, fixtures will be confirmed soon with the season starting in September.

“We can’t wait to see the new team playing in the league with their new kit! It’s a massive honour to support the ladies and we will be hosting a full photoshoot with them once the kit is ready.” Eden Camp’s Marketing Manager Harriet Stainton says, “Eden Camp has, in the past, been seen a male-oriented place but with many women on the staff team, and several displays dedicated to women at war, we want to raise the profile of our support for women in every industry. We are fully behind Old Malton Ladies’ St Mary’s Football Club and will be cheering them on throughout the season!”

Old Malton St Mary’s Ladies’ Football Club have their first friendly match against Huntington (away) on 21st August. To follow their progress and find out more about joining up and showing your support, visit their Facebook page: Old Malton St Mary’s Ladies Football Club.
