HURRICANE SOARS OVER EDEN CAMP

This week has seen the arrival of a full-sized Hawker Hurricane fighter plane which replaces the one which took off during the inclement weather of Christman Eve 1997. The fighter now graces the skies once more, raised some 25 feet in the air as though sweeping past the entrance of the Museum.

The Hurricane was originally dedicated during July 1993, as a tribute to the service of pilots who served in the Battle of Britain and in particular, Yorkshire's hero, 'Ginger' Lacey, the top scoring pilot in Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain.

Born at Wetherby, James Harry Lacey joined the R.A.F.V.R. in 1936, served throughout World War Two and continued in service until 1967. He lived at Flamborough until his death in 1989.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Museum if you require any further details.
