HURRICANE FIGHTER PLANE

This week has seen the arrival of a new exhibit at Eden Camp; a full-sized Hurricane Fighter plane which is displayed raised some 25 feet in the air as though sweeping past the entrance of Eden Camp.

On Sunday 18th July 1993 at 2.00pm there will be a ceremony to dedicate the hurricane as a tribute to the service of pilots who served in the Battle of Britain and in particular, Yorkshire's hero, "Ginger" Lacey, the top-scoring pilot in Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. "Ginger" Lacey's widow and daughter will be attending the dedication ceremony.

Born at Wetherby, James Harry Lacey joined the R.A.F.V.R. in 1936, served throughout World War Two and continued in service until 1967. He lived at Flamborough until his death in 1989.
