PRESS RELEASE

REUNION OF MALAYA AND BORNEO VETERANS

EDEN CAMP 22ND JUNE 2002

On Saturday June 22nd 2002, Eden Camp will be hosting a reunion for the National Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association. The reunion has been organised to coincide with the dedication and unveiling of a National Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association plaque in the Eden Camp Chapel of Remembrance - Hut 29.

A service of dedication will take place in Hut 12 at 2.30pm. There will then be a short parade with Standards to the Chapel of Remembrance (Hut 29) where the plaque will be unveiled at approximately 3.15pm.

Although numbers are limited for the service itself, any veteran who served in Malaya, Borneo or Brunei between 1945 and 1966 is more than welcome to visit the museum between 10.00am - 5.00pm free of charge.

A section of our Post World World Two Military Conflicts (Hut 13) has been dedicated to British military involvement in Malaya and Borneo, which spanned two decades of the 20th Century.

Between June 1948 and July 1960 there were 2,132 British and Commonwealth military personnel killed and a further 2,560 wounded in Malaya.

Since Hut 13 was opened in 1998, we have already hosted a reunion for the veterans of the Korean War (1950-53) and also hosted an annual reunion for veterans of Palestine (1945-48).

If you require further information about this event, please do not hesitate to contact myself Nick Hill or Steve Jaques. The museum at the address, telephone number or e-mail shown above.
