Eden Camp:

PRESS RELEASE ASAP

10th Annual Veterans Parade - EDEN CAMP

On 9th September 2001, Eden Camp will be playing host to the veterans of the Second World War. Associations from all over the country are coming along to what is now one of the largest events of its kind.

Last year around 1000 Veterans marched, with over 100 standards. 1000 others watched on and took part in the service. It was a very moving and memorable sight. This year the parade will be led by The Kings Division Normandy Band, with the Rev Manchester taking the service.

We are expecting a strong contingency of Bevin Boys and Land Army Girls to be in attendance this year representing the civilian services. All veterans are welcome to attend the day as our guests. We are open 10am to 5pm; the service is at 2.30pm. We would recommend arriving by 1.00 pm at the latest.

The day will also mark the opening of Hut 11, a new section to the Museum. The area is dedicated to World War One. It is going to be anther worthy addition to the existing Museum. It covers not only the life in the trenches, but the story of social life in this country whilst the war was going on abroad.

For more information do not hesitate to contact Nick Hill or myself at the address, phone number or email below.
