Eden Camp:

1st April 1992

NATIONAL CODE OF PRACTICE FOR VISITOR ATTRACTIONS

Eden Camp has recieved the above award from the English Tourist Board through the recommendation of the Yorkshire & Humberside Tourist Board.

The award, unlike others such as the recently publicised certificate of Museum Registration, is open for all to join and does not discriminate against the private sector.

The award is another step forward in what is, as our visitors advise; "One of the best Museums in the North of England."

As an independant Museum we depend on our content and presentation to survive, we are not blessed to survive, we are not blessed with financial help or assistance from our local poll tax payers. We also pay VAT, business rates etc, unlike, we understand, all the charitable and Council associated Museums, attractions and the like. We also provide a substantial influx of cash into the local economy, through purchases of goods, wages etc. We are in fact, unknow to many, one of the larger employers in Malton (Ryedale House excluded).

We have, we believe, helped to put Malton on the map in recent years and have certainly boosted its visitor figures with, hopefully, a knock on effect to other local traders. Despite this we have no tourist information signs in the middle of Malton to direct our ever increasing visitors.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Museum if you require any further details.
